Principal Message

Marianne Rupprecht, Principal of Carter Lake

Carter Lake Families,

April is Month of the Military Child and Carter Lake students, we honor YOU! We are so proud of you and the resiliency and courage that you demonstrate each day!Our Military and Family Life Counselors, Scarlett Ekeroma and Kim Izzi, have been busy working with all of our students designing Superhero capes showing off each of their superhero powers. We will be posting these in the entry way windows and from some of the front classroom windows. This way we can share this student art with you as you walk by/get lunch/pick up students. Please visit our district MOMC resource page!

We need your help! Please ONLY use the disabled parking spaces if you have a disabled parking placard, tabs or plates. We have students and families need these spaces throughout the day.

State and district testing updates: We have just learned that students will not participate in the WA state testing, the Smarter Balanced assessments, this spring. This will not affect student grades or entering the next school or grade level. The state is moving the testing window to the fall. As we learn more, we will keep you informed. Kinder and gr 1 students will complete district testing, the STAR assessment, by the end of April. Grades 2-5 students will participate in the district MAP assessment in May. Teachers will communicate the day(s) that your child will be testing.

Intent to Return forms: Thank you to those of you that have completed and returned the Intent to Return forms. This helps us plan for next year, so it’s critical we know your plans!

April 16 Coffee with the Principal: Our focus this month was to spend time sharing our school goals with families and get some input. We will be measuring our end of year progress soon and planning for next school year. We have goals for each of the following: equity, academic achievement, family engagement, and social emotional. If you were unable to join but have input or feedback, we would love to hear from you. Call or email!

CEE survey of families: Yesterday, April 19,the district sent out a link for the CEE anonymous survey of families. The survey will be open through May 7. This input will be used to inform our school and district planning. Thank you for your time!
