Principal Message

Marianne Rupprecht, Principal of Carter Lake

Dear Carter Lake Families,

We sure have had quite the year. We want to express a most sincere thank you for your partnership with us this school year. None of us expected a global pandemic, but we got through it together. The end of year car parade was absolutely incredible! We loved seeing our Carter Lake students and families around the neighborhoods – truly a great memory for June 2020.

We want to take a moment to stop. To recognize the impact of local, regional, national, and global events are impacting our staff, students and families in very diverse ways. This year as a district and school we implemented professional development to grow our cultural competency and develop skills to implement culturally relevant teaching strategies. Equity is at the core of who we are and our work.  We will have empathy, be humble, and be courageous in our ability to ensure student success for each of our Carter Lake students. I want you to know that we see you. We are listening. We will continue this important work together and we are committed to doing what is best for kids.

We know you might have questions about what next fall will look like. Thank you for participating in the parent survey to gather input on back-to-school planning. The district is studying the OSPI and CDC guidelines and being thoughtful and deliberate as we work through possible scenarios. When decisions are made, communication will be sent out to families.

Thank you to all our 2019-20 volunteers, PTO and community partners. We also want to thank Carter Lake ASB students for their leadership this school year. And to our 5th graders moving on to middle school – we are so proud of each of YOU and miss you already!

The summer meal program is here at Carter Lake! Daily from 11am-noon, beginning June 19 through August 31 (except July 3).

Take care and have a safe, fun summer!

Marianne Rupprecht
